Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the United States' efforts to pressure Tehran had backfired, arguing that Washington had instead inflicted economic pain on itself through soaring oil prices.

In a post on X on Thursday (July 23), Ghalibaf mocked the impact of US policy toward Iran, linking it to the recent surge in crude prices.

"They wanted to punish Iran. Punished themselves with triple-digit oil instead. 10/10 strategy."
