Uzbekistan and China have signed memorandums of understanding on intellectual property cooperation as part of a meeting between Uzbekistan's Deputy Justice Minister and head of the country's intellectual property authority, Muzraf Ikramov and Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
Holding talks on the sidelines of the 68th series of Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva, the sides discussed expanding cooperation in the legal protection of intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks and industrial designs, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.
They paid particular attention to personnel training, the exchange of experience and the improvement of patent examination procedures.
Following the meeting, the officials also signed a memorandum on the implementation of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) accelerated patent examination program.
The agreements provide for the development of cooperation in patents, trademarks and industrial designs, the training of patent experts, the introduction of the PPH mechanism, the expansion of the network of Technology and Innovation Support Centres (TISC), and support for the commercialisation of intellectual property assets.
Uzbekistan's Justice Ministry said the implementation of the agreements would contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership with China, promoting innovation and expanding cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
