The Israeli military said it had killed a commander in Hamas's naval unit and three other Hamas militants in separate operations in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) identified the naval commander as Osama Naim Hamdi Shamlah, saying he led a cell within Hamas's naval wing, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the IDF, Shamlah was involved in rebuilding and strengthening Hamas's naval capabilities and in planning maritime attacks.

The military also said that, in a separate operation in northern Gaza, Israeli forces killed three armed Hamas militants who were allegedly preparing to attack Israeli troops and posed an immediate threat.
