A shooting in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad left two members of the Basij militia dead, Iran International reported, during events linked to the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
A deputy head of the Khorasan provincial security service later confirmed the incident, saying two people were killed.
He stressed that the shooting was not a targeted attack, adding that it stemmed from a personal dispute between several individuals that escalated into an armed confrontation.
