Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said Türkiye and Iraq are seeking to deepen cooperation in the oil and natural gas sectors, with discussions focusing on the Iraq–Türkiye crude oil pipeline and broader regional energy connectivity.
Speaking after talks in Baghdad with Iraqi Oil Minister Bassim Mohammed Khudair, Bayraktar said the two sides explored ways to expand bilateral energy cooperation by making more effective use of existing infrastructure and supporting it with new cross-border connections.
He said the discussions also covered the Development Road Project, which Türkiye sees not only as a trade and transport corridor but also as a future regional energy corridor linking energy infrastructure with wider economic and logistics networks.
Bayraktar added that Ankara places importance on maintaining close and coordinated cooperation with Iraq's newly formed government, expressing confidence that concrete steps in the coming period would elevate the partnership between the two countries.
