President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani held talks with Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials in Tehran on regional cooperation and bilateral relations during his visit to Iran.
In posts on X, Barzani said he discussed ways to further strengthen ties with Iran, Caliber.Az reports.
"I am delighted to meet President Pezeshkian in Tehran this morning. We discussed ways to further strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Iran, with particular emphasis on expanding economic cooperation, and building on the historical, cultural, and neighborly ties that have long connected our peoples," Barzani wrote.
He also highly appreciated talks with Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi.
“I am pleased to have met my friend Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran. We exchanged views on regional developments and a range of issues of mutual interest, and emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in restoring and preserving regional stability,” Barzani noted.
In another post, Barzani said he was pleased to meet Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament.
"I highly appreciated his important role in the successful conclusion of the recent agreement between Iran and the United States and reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement and sustained dialogue to ensure its full implementation," he stated.
