European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has arrived in Azerbaijan for a visit aimed at strengthening relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan, with a focus on trade, transport, energy and economic cooperation.
In a post on X following her arrival in Baku, von der Leyen said the European Union sees strong potential for the South Caucasus and is committed to supporting the region's development, Caliber.Az reports.
She said the EU believes in "a bright future for the South Caucasus: connected, peaceful and prosperous," adding that the bloc wants to help build that future.
Von der Leyen also said her visit is intended to deepen the EU-Azerbaijan partnership, highlighting cooperation in areas including trade, transport, energy and the broader economy.
