A meeting was held in Kyiv with a delegation from Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (parliament) led by Alibala Maharramzade, during which the sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said on X.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for providing Ukraine with energy equipment, including transformers, which he said are helping strengthen the resilience of the country’s power system.
“We discussed the implementation of agreements reached during our delegation’s visit to Baku, as well as between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on cooperation in the energy sector,” the minister said.
He added that the talks also covered the participation of Azerbaijani companies in rebuilding Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which has been damaged by Russian attacks.
Shmyhal noted that another important humanitarian initiative agreed with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov concerns the rehabilitation in Azerbaijan of children of Ukrainian energy workers who were killed.
“We are working with our Azerbaijani partners to implement this important project,” he said, thanking Azerbaijan for its consistent support for Ukraine and the assistance provided.
