China hosted the 13th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Tourism Ministerial Meeting in Macau on Saturday, bringing together officials from across the region to discuss digital innovation and closer cooperation in the tourism sector.

The meeting, held at the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex, focused on the theme “Digital Innovation, Collaborative Empowerment: Leveraging Tourism for an Asia-Pacific Community,” Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.

Participants exchanged views on tourism development and explored ways to strengthen regional cooperation amid evolving travel trends.

Macau is also hosting the 67th APEC Tourism Working Group Meeting, which runs from Wednesday through Sunday, as part of a broader series of events linked to China’s hosting of APEC in 2026.

As this year’s APEC host economy, China is preparing to welcome leaders from the 21-member forum to the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in the southern city of Shenzhen in November.

Chinese authorities have said around 300 APEC-related meetings and events will be held in cities across the country throughout the year.
