Two police officers were killed and five people were injured in an armed attack on a security checkpoint in the western Iranian city of Baneh.


The attack took place in Baneh, located in Iran's Kurdistan province, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.


The injured included one member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and two civilians. One of the wounded was said to be in critical condition.


Iranian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for those responsible.
