Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has praised Azerbaijan's support during recent events in Iran during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Sahiba Gafarova.


Coming together on the sidelines of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Baku the two sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.


They noted that ongoing projects and new areas of engagement would contribute to the further development of bilateral cooperation.


The officials discussed regional developments, emphasising the importance of dialogue in ensuring peace and stability, and exchanged views on expanding cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.


During the meeting, Ghalibaf thanked President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani state and people for their support and humanitarian assistance.


He also noted that relations between the two countries had intensified significantly over the past year, particularly through regular contacts between the two presidents.
