Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has described Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement on Moscow’s readiness for peace negotiations with Ukraine as positive, referencing talks based on the Istanbul agreements, TASS reports, citing Turkish media.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on June 23 during a government meeting that Russia is prepared for peace talks with Ukraine based on agreements reached in Istanbul.
In 2025, three rounds of direct Russian–Ukrainian negotiations were held in Istanbul. Turkish officials have repeatedly stated their readiness to once again offer Türkiye as a venue for future negotiations and a potential summit on Ukraine.
