An event titled “Return to Western Azerbaijan: Restoration of Historical Justice and Human Rights” was held in Baku on the initiative of the Western Azerbaijan Community in observance of World Refugee Day.

The gathering brought together members of the Milli Majlis, representatives of academic and educational institutions, intellectuals, members of the Western Azerbaijan Community, and civil society representatives, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Addressing the event, speakers stressed that the issue of Western Azerbaijan extends beyond historical justice and is closely linked to the protection of fundamental human rights enshrined in international law.

Participants noted that the implementation of the goals set out in the Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan would help restore historical justice, facilitate the return of displaced Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands, and contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.

The event also highlighted that World Refugee Day is marked annually on June 20 under a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 4, 2000, to raise global awareness of the challenges faced by refugees around the world.
