The first meeting of the heads of state bodies responsible for religious affairs in member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will take place in Shusha on June 30, Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations has announced.

The gathering is expected to bring together the Secretary General of the OTS alongside senior officials overseeing religious affairs from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, Caliber.Az reports.

A central item on the agenda will be the establishment of a formal cooperation mechanism among the religious affairs authorities of OTS member states. The initiative is aimed at enhancing coordination, strengthening institutional ties, and creating a permanent platform for cooperation and dialogue within the organization.

Participants are expected to discuss ways to deepen collaboration in matters related to religious affairs and exchange views on developing a more structured framework for interaction among the relevant government bodies.

The meeting is scheduled to conclude with the adoption and signing of a joint communiqué outlining the outcomes of the discussions and the parties' shared commitments moving forward.
