Azerbaijan’s Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Mukhtar Babayev met with Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Ayorkor Botchwey on the sidelines of London Climate Action Week, focusing on climate finance and heritage protection agenda.


Babayev shared details of the meeting on his official X account, Caliber.Az reports.


“Pleased to meet with Commonwealth Secretary-General AyorkorBotchwey on the margins of London Climate Action Week 2026.


Our cooperation is already delivering practical outcomes, including the launch of the first round of projects supporting improved access to climate finance for Small Island Developing States.


Discussed preparations for the next phase of joint activities, including support for just energy transition initiatives and a new area of cooperation focused on preserving cultural heritage affected by climate change in SIDS.


Agreed on the importance of building on the success of this partnership, expanding its impact through additional partners and resources, and continuing to deliver practical outcomes for vulnerable countries,” the post by presidential envoy reads.
