Azerbaijan has transferred the tanker "Dostlug" (friendship) to Turkmenistan, a move described by officials as evidence of a growing strategic partnership between the two Caspian neighbours.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said the handover of the vessel, built at the Baku Shipyard, underscored mutual trust and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
Writing on the social media platform X, Nabiyev said the project highlighted Azerbaijan’s advances in shipbuilding and its wider industrial capacity.
“The transfer by Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan of the Dostlug tanker, built at the Baku Shipyard, is another confirmation of the strategic partnership and mutual trust between the two countries,” he wrote.
He added that the vessel would help strengthen bilateral ties and support broader cooperation in the Caspian Sea region.
