At least six people, including two children, have died in a severe traffic accident in the US state of Texas on June 20, according to the Daily Mail citing the Texas Department of Public Safety.


The collision occurred around 16:30 on State Highway 171 between the towns of Bynum and Malone in Hill County. Preliminary reports indicate that a passenger car attempting to overtake another vehicle entered the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a passenger van. Both vehicles caught fire following the impact.


Four people, two adults and two children, died at the scene. One additional child was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities later confirmed the deaths of two more occupants from the passenger car, bringing the total death toll to six.


The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and the investigation is ongoing. Fire and rescue teams from Bynum, Penelope, and Hillsboro, along with emergency medical service Careflite, responded to the incident.
