The French national meteorological service has announced that in 60 departments where an “orange” weather alert level had previously been issued, this level will remain in effect on Sunday as well, BFM reports.
Meteorologists warn of a possible intensification of extreme heat in several regions — from Nouvelle-Aquitaine to the Île-de-France metropolitan area and Burgundy. In some areas, temperatures may reach up to 41°C.
According to the service, in zones stretching from Nouvelle-Aquitaine and western Occitanie towards Île-de-France and Burgundy, temperatures will frequently rise to 39–40°C.
Experts note that there remains a risk of further intensification of the hot weather, and therefore, the population is advised to take precautions in conditions of high temperatures.
