Three people, including two children, have died after a car caught fire at a gas station in the western Kazakh city of Aktobe, NUR.KZ reports.


The fire broke out at a filling station at the intersection of Bokenbay Batyr and Makataev streets, according to the regional Department of Emergency Situations.


Fire crews extinguished the blaze within eight minutes and prevented it from spreading to the wider station infrastructure.



Authorities said that after the fire was brought under control, the bodies of three victims were discovered inside the vehicle. A fourth person was injured and taken to hospital for treatment.


Local media reported that the vehicle may have contained passengers at the time of the blaze. Witness accounts cited on social media suggested a man, believed to be the driver, was seen near the burning car calling for help.


The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. An investigation has been launched.
