U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is planning a visit to the Middle East next week, with stops expected in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, according to Axios, which cited two sources familiar with the matter.

Rubio is also expected to participate in a meeting with foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Bahrain, based on information from a third unidentified source.

The U.S. State Department has not yet confirmed the travel plans and did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
