A 30-year-old tourist of Franco-Algerian origin, Yass Naubelle, has been arrested in Morocco after posting a negative review of the country on social media.
According to MSN, the woman was detained on June 13 at border control at Marrakesh Airport, from where she was due to fly to France.
In a viral video, the influencer criticised local driving standards and the conduct of police officers.
“I've never seen people drive like this. It's super dangerous - cars, mopeds without helmets, with children on board, swerving suddenly,” Naubelle said, adding that the situation in neighbouring Algeria was “less bad than here.” She also accused traffic police of allegedly stopping women in order to extract money.
The video sparked a strong reaction online and drew the attention of the authorities. She was subsequently taken into custody, with officials considering the post defamatory and damaging to the reputation of state institutions.
