Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has dismissed reports claiming that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed, stating that such claims are false, Fars News Agency reports.

According to Baghaei, the Iranian Armed Forces, under a memorandum of understanding, have taken necessary measures to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, and maritime traffic along the route continues without interruption.

Earlier, the German newspaper Bild reported that Iran had closed the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz following Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.

The newspaper cited reports indicating that warning shots were fired in the vicinity of the narrow waterway, which serves as a critical route for global oil and gas shipments. According to the report, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also issued radio warnings instructing vessels to avoid approaching the strait.
