Uzbekistan has welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, calling it an important step toward reducing tensions and strengthening regional security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated.


It said the agreement is seen as a significant diplomatic breakthrough in a complex international environment and an important contribution to restoring stability in the region, Caliber.Az reports.


The statement particularly highlighted the political will and foresight of the leadership of the United States and Iran.


Tashkent also praised the mediation efforts of Pakistan and Qatar, as well as the contribution of Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other regional partners that helped facilitate the understanding.


“We are convinced that resolving conflicts through diplomatic means based on the principles of international law, mutual respect and consideration of the interests of all parties remains a key condition for ensuring peace and security,” the Uzbek Foreign Ministry noted.
