Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce. He reported the meeting on his Telegram channel.

“We discussed preparations for the next winter. Key areas include protection, reserves and the speed of restoration, distributed generation, gas and resource sustainability.

I spoke about work on updating Ukraine’s Energy Strategy, which we are carrying out together with the World Bank. Our goal is to build a new Ukrainian energy system: resilient, competitive and attractive for private capital.

We discussed the concept of ‘energy cells.’ For business, it will mean a lower entry threshold, as the focus is on smaller projects with shorter construction cycles and lower CapEx.

Separately, we focused on measures already being implemented for business: balancing market reform, a new tender for more than 1.5 GW of generation, increasing the renewable energy support quota to 1 GW, developing direct contracts and distributed generation, and stimulating gas production.

We also discussed corporate governance, optimization of state-owned enterprises, corporatization of state assets, and integration into the European energy space,” he said.
