The General Mayor of Romania’s capital, Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, has been summoned for questioning by the National Anticorruption Directorate, Agerpres reports.

Upon entering the institution, the head of the city administration did not speak to journalists.

According to Agerpres, citing court sources, Ciucu has been informed that he has been given suspect status in a corruption case.

He is suspected of having granted a construction permit to a businessman while serving as mayor of Bucharest’s 6th district, in exchange for funds allegedly used to finance his campaign for the 2025 mayoral elections in the capital.
