Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has proposed appointing a single European negotiator to engage with Russia on issues related to Ukraine.

According to The Guardian, Meloni made the suggestion during the G7 summit in Évian.

She said she would raise the issue at the two-day European Union summit opening in Brussels on June 18. In her view, the proposed negotiator should come from a “medium-sized” European country rather than one of the EU’s largest member states.
