A large-scale overnight drone attack caused damage to shopping centres, residential buildings and industrial facilities across Moscow, Russia, and the surrounding region, with authorities reporting several fires, property damage and at least one minor injury.


Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that the "Sadovod" shopping centre was damaged after drone debris fell in the Russian capital.


Sobyanin also reported that “several drones managed to reach the Moscow Oil Refinery. Measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences,” he wrote.




Meanwhile, Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said in a Telegram post that fires broke out at industrial facilities and that a multi-storey residential building was struck.



“In Zhukovsky, a UAV hit an apartment building on Gagarin Street. The exit to the fire escape staircase between the 23rd and 24th floors and two balcony slabs were damaged. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. Residents of the building are currently being evacuated.


In Elektrostal, in the village of Stepanovo, debris from a downed UAV damaged the roof of a private house. A woman sustained a minor shoulder injury but declined hospitalisation. Emergency services are working at the scene.


Also in Elektrostal, on Radio Street, a vehicle caught fire after drone debris fell. The fire was quickly contained, and no casualties were reported.


In Lyubertsy, several locations where UAV debris fell have been recorded. A fitness centre building and a facility in the industrial zone sustained damage. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties.


In addition, drone debris struck the roof of the 'Belaya Dacha' shopping centre, causing a fire. Information regarding the size of the blaze and possible casualties is being clarified.


In Chekhov, in the village of Masnovo-Zhukovo, a UAV hit a summer house located within a gardening association. The building and several outbuildings were destroyed. No casualties were reported.


Also, in the settlement of Kryukovo, drone debris fell on the grounds of several summer cottages. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.


In Pavlovsky Posad, in the Druzhba gardening association in the village of Fateyevo, two summer houses caught fire as a result of a UAV strike. Firefighters are working at the scene. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties,” Vorobyov wrote.






The latest incidents came as Russian authorities reported that 137 drones had been intercepted while heading toward Moscow.
