Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have discussed the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit in France.
Sharing a post on X, Modi said the sides welcomed the understanding reached aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, the two sides also discussed bilateral relations and “reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation across various sectors, including trade and investment, defence and security, sustainable development, technology, innovation, education and mobility.”
Modi and Merz also welcomed the signing of a roadmap for defence-industrial cooperation and the implementation of a visa-free regime for Indian citizens transiting through Germany.
The Indian prime minister also held separate meetings with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa on the sidelines of the summit.
