Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held a phone call with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss bilateral relations and ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
The two ministers reviewed cooperation between Qatar and Egypt and explored ways to further strengthen ties across various sectors, Caliber.Az reports via Qatar's Foreign Ministry.
The discussion also focused on diplomatic efforts aimed at bridging differences between Washington and Tehran.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with what they described as progress in the negotiations, as well as with an announcement from a Pakistani mediation team regarding the finalisation of the text of a proposed agreement.
They also voiced hope that the United States and Iran would move toward signing the deal in the near future.
“The interlocutors reaffirmed their full support for the ongoing good offices aimed at resolving all outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means, with the goal of strengthening regional and international security and stability, as well as expanding opportunities for achieving sustainable peace in the region,” the statement said.
