US naval and air forces continue to patrol regional waters as part of efforts to enforce maritime restrictions on Iran, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated.
Sharing a post in X, CENTCOM said it has redirected 136 commercial vessels and disabled nine others to ensure compliance with the measures, Caliber.Az reports.
This came amid ongoing tensions in the region and heightened maritime security operations.
Earlier, CENTCOM disabled an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, which Washington claims was attempting to transport Iranian oil in violation of an existing maritime blockade.
The incident occurred at 23:20 Eastern Time and targeted the M/T Jalveer, a Guinea-Bissau-flagged tanker.
The statement noted that after repeated warnings from US forces were ignored, the vessel was struck with two Hellfire missiles targeting its engine room.
