Kuwait's Armed Forces said they intercepted and destroyed seven ballistic missiles launched from Iranian territory early on June 6, according to a statement from the country's Ministry of Defence.
Military spokesperson Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said the missiles entered Kuwaiti airspace and were successfully intercepted over several residential areas, Caliber.Az reports.
"At dawn today, the Armed Forces detected and destroyed seven Iranian ballistic missiles in Kuwaiti airspace," Al-Atwan said. He added that debris from the intercepted missiles fell in a number of locations.
According to the Kuwaiti military, the incident caused material damage but no casualties were reported.
The Ministry of Defence said the armed forces remain on high alert and continue to carry out their duties with full operational readiness to protect the country's security and the safety of citizens and residents.
