An Iranian government official has denied claims that President Masoud Pezeshkian has resigned, calling such reports “rumours.”
Mehdi Tabatabai, deputy head of communications in the Iranian presidential administration, said the rumours of the disgraceful foreign network are “a continuation of previous absurd media games”, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
According to him, they published “their wishes instead of reality.”
“The president will not step back from serving the people,” he added.
Earlier, the UK-based Iranian opposition broadcaster Iran International reported, citing a source, that Pezeshkian had allegedly informed authorities of his resignation and warned that governance in the country had moved beyond formal institutions.
Separately, Elyas Hazrati, head of Iran’s government information policy council, also denied reports of Pezeshkian’s resignation.
Previously, Masoud Pezeshkian stated that dialogue between Iran and the United States does not mean Tehran’s surrender. He stressed that Iran will not abandon its legitimate rights.
