At least 290 flights have been canceled in Japan due to an approaching typhoon that is expected to make landfall in Okinawa on June 2, NHK reports.
The canceled flights were scheduled to depart from or arrive in Okinawa between May 31 and June 2.
According to the national meteorological agency, the center of the typhoon is located south of the islands and is moving northward. It is expected to reach the Amami Islands on June 1 and Okinawa’s main island on June 2.
