TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 29. Uzbekistan and
the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) have
signed a cooperation agreement aimed at addressing environmental
and agricultural challenges in the Aral Sea region, Trend reports via the Uzbek
Agency for Innovative Delevopment.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Acting
Director of the Agency for Innovative Development Asror Norov and
ICBA Director General Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi on May 23.
The partnership will focus on tackling key issues in the region,
including climate change, water scarcity, and soil salinization,
while promoting the adoption of green innovations.
As part of the initiative, the parties will implement an
“Accelerator Program for Farmers and Agri-Entrepreneurs,” designed
to support the development and commercialization of agricultural
value chains. The project will be funded through a grant from the
Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
The program will support the modernization of agricultural
production processes in Karakalpakstan, covering the full value
chain from cultivation and processing to the delivery of finished
products to market.
It will also aim to promote the commercialization of biosaline
agriculture research, support agritech startups, and establish a
training and acceleration system for farmers, young specialists,
and agri-entrepreneurs with the involvement of international
experts from ICBA.
