Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has inspected ongoing restoration and infrastructure development works in Boyuk Galaderesi village in the Shusha district and met with residents who have returned to the village.
On May 28, the head of state reviewed the progress of reconstruction of individual houses and infrastructure in the village. Special Representative of the President in the Shusha district Aydin Karimov briefed him on the ongoing restoration efforts and development of local infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Boyuk Galaderesi is located within the Galaderesi village administrative territorial district of Shusha. The village was occupied by Armenian armed forces in 1992 and was liberated in 2023 during anti-terror operations conducted by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.
According to officials, a number of infrastructure projects have been implemented to ensure living conditions and address social needs. These include the installation of a transformer, laying and restoration of power lines, and equipping houses designated for initial resettlement with electricity meters. A new gas pipeline has also been laid, with meter installation underway.
Work has also been carried out to provide residents with drinking water, including the laying of distribution water lines and the installation of meters. The installation of communication lines in the village is currently underway. Internal village roads have also been upgraded. Furthermore, a park has been built for residents’ recreation, and a Flag Square has been established in Boyuk Galaderesi.
The village has a total of 50 individual houses, of which 13 are unusable and 37 are partially usable. In the first phase, 17 houses have been restored, while the restoration of 20 additional houses is planned for the next phase.
A total of 64 people, comprising 14 families, have returned to live in the village at the initial stage.
Following the briefing, President Ilham Aliyev met with residents who had returned to Boyuk Galaderesi village.
