New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters said on May 27 that he held a conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who briefed him on Tehran’s perspective on negotiations between Iran and the United States.
In a post on X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited the minister as saying that New Zealand calls for the immediate cessation of the conflict and welcomes reports of both sides engaging in serious and detailed negotiations to end it, Caliber.Az reports.
“A negotiated solution, and full compliance with international law, was the only way to longlasting peace - which must include unimpeded freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz,” the minister wrote.
