BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. Loan investments in
Azerbaijan's Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions grew as of
May 1, 2026.


The data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank shows that the
volume of loan investments in the Karabakh region amounted to
566.48 million manat ($334.2 million), reflecting a rise of 37.9
million manat ($22.4 million), or 7.2%, compared to the previous
month, and 75.3 million manat ($44.4 million), or 15.3%, compared
to the same period last year.


During the reporting period, the average interest rate on loan
investments in the region stood at 19.85%.


Within the period, 566.14 million manat ($334 million) of the
region’s loan investments were issued in national currency, while
341,000 manat ($201,000) were issued in freely convertible
currency.


At the same time, as of May 1 of this year, the volume of loan
investments in the East Zangezur region elevated by 8.5 million
manat ($5 million), or 34.7%, compared to the previous month, and
by 22.1 million manat ($13 million), or 3 times, compared to the
same period last year, reaching 32.98 million manat ($19.5
million).







During the reporting period, the average interest rate for this
indicator stood at 13.4%.


In the same period, 24.29 million manat ($14.3 million) of loans
in the East Zangezur region were issued in national currency, and
8.68 million manat ($5.1 million) in freely convertible
currency.


Thus, during the period, the total volume of loan investments
across the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions reached
599.5 million manat ($353.7 million).


As of May 1, 2026, the total loan investment of Azerbaijan’s
regions amounted to 30.6 billion manat ($18 billion). This marks
growth of 318.9 million manat ($188 million), or 1.1%, compared to
the previous month, and 2.5 billion manat ($1.48 billion), or 8.9%,
year-on-year.
