The Armenian government will independently restore railway lines leading to the borders of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during an election campaign event in the Shirak region.

He stated that reconstruction work will soon begin on the Gyumri–Akhurik and Akhurik–Turkish border sections.

“Work has already begun on the Turkish side, and the railway will be opened. We will also start reconstruction of the Yeraskh junction. The government of Armenia will take this on, although there is a concession agreement; we will make investments, we will repair the railway, restore it, and the railway line will be opened,” Pashinyan said, as broadcast by local media.
