Russia launched 124 drones against Ukraine overnight on May 23, including strike UAVs and decoy drones, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ukraine’s military said the attack involved Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas-type strike drones, as well as Parodia decoy UAVs designed to overwhelm air defence systems, Caliber.Az reports.

The Ukrainian Air Force said the assault was countered by air defence units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare systems, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups deployed by the country’s defence forces.

According to preliminary data released at 8:30 a.m. local time, Ukrainian forces had shot down or neutralized 102 drones across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.

The military said 12 strike drones hit targets at nine locations, while debris from intercepted UAVs was recorded at five separate sites.

Ukrainian authorities added that the aerial attack was still ongoing at the time of the statement.
