More than 84,000 people are currently residing in the Karabakh Economic Region and East Zangezur Economic Region of Azerbaijan, according to new figures released by the country’s State Statistical Committee.

The data, cited by Caliber.Az, shows that 33,270 people returned to their homes under the government’s first state programme known as “The Great Return.”

The State Statistical Committee said the total population living in the territories liberated by Azerbaijan had reached 84,370 as of early May this year.

The “Great Return” initiative was launched to facilitate the resettlement of former internally displaced persons to liberated lands.
