Around 100 officers from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have reportedly entered Lebanon in recent months, according to US intelligence assessments cited by Al Arabiya.
The television channel reported that the personnel are believed to be involved in efforts to rearm and train Hezbollah fighters, amid continued regional tensions.
Sources cited by Al Arabiya also said individuals linked to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government, who have relocated to Lebanon, are making use of established networks in Syria to facilitate financial smuggling operations.
