The closing ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) is being held in Baku following six days of discussions attended by government officials, media representatives and other participants.
WUF13, which opened on May 17, is regarded as one of the world’s leading events on urban development, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Organised by the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Government of Azerbaijan, this year’s forum was held under the theme: “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.”
More than 40,000 participants from 182 countries registered for the forum, marking a record level of attendance in its history.
The program included discussions on sustainable urban planning, climate change, urbanisation, affordable housing, digital transformation, and green city models.
Particular focus was placed on Azerbaijan’s large-scale reconstruction and urban development efforts in Karabakh and East Zangazur.
