Prices for construction materials in Azerbaijan continue to rise, with the Russian-Ukrainian war contributing to the increase, as the country traditionally imports certain construction materials from the two countries, Farid Shafiyev, chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations, has stated.
Speaking at the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, he said Azerbaijan imports, particularly wood, iron, steel and cement from Russia and Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to him, continued military conflicts and ongoing global uncertainty could lead to further increases in construction costs and place additional pressure on reconstruction projects.
Shafiyev made it clear that Azerbaijan plans in the initial phase to facilitate the return of around 140,000 former residents to territories reclaimed after the conflict, but reconstruction efforts are being affected by inflationary pressures, demining expenses and supply chain disruptions.
