A roundtable at a high level dedicated to energy security and the green transition is set to take place in Sofia in October 2026 on the initiative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Bulgaria.

The upcoming event was announced during a working breakfast hosted by the embassy on the theme “The Power of Synergy: Energy Security and Green Transition”, as reported by Caliber.Az, citing local media.

The meeting brought together representatives of leading Bulgarian universities, experts in energy, the green economy and sustainable urban development, as well as other stakeholders.

Participants exchanged views on preparations for the planned 2026 high-level roundtable in Sofia, along with potential concrete cooperation projects between universities in the two countries.

The discussion focused on strengthening Azerbaijani-Bulgarian cooperation in energy security, the green transition, circular economy, sustainable urban development, technological innovation and scientific collaboration, as well as broader regional and energy resilience.

During the talks, participants highlighted the growing importance of regional cooperation in diversifying energy supplies, strengthening resilient energy infrastructure, and integrating cleaner and more reliable energy systems into the overall energy mix.

Special attention was given to the role of academic institutions and scientific cooperation in supporting innovative approaches to energy security, green transformation, and the creation of sustainable jobs at national and urban levels.

The roundtable is expected to bring together policymakers, university representatives, academics, private sector actors, and international experts to further develop dialogue and cooperation on energy security and the green transition.
