Azerbaijan reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the severe humanitarian consequences of landmines, emphasising that a mine-free future is a key condition for sustainable peace.

On the occasion of International Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action Day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan stated on X that landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to pose a serious threat to human life, hinder reconstruction efforts, and obstruct the safe return of displaced persons.

“Azerbaijan remains among the countries most heavily affected by landmine contamination,” the statement added.

The ministry called on the international community to strengthen support for humanitarian demining efforts and aid for mine victims.
