BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 3. The stage of
improving the national payment infrastructure in Azerbaijan has
been successfully completed, and international integration
opportunities are being considered as a strategic direction,
Director of the Department of Policy and Supervision on Payment
Services and Payment Systems at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan
(CBA), Kamala Gurbanova, said at an international event on the
theme "Collective power: sustainability and development in a
changing world," held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Trend reports.
Gurbanova spoke at a panel discussion organized within the
framework of the "Payments and Innovation" direction of the forum
on the topic "Real-time international payments as a catalyst for
regional integration." She noted the importance of joint efforts in
a changing global environment and the role of domestic payment
infrastructure in establishing intercountry payment relations, as
well as the importance of applying international standards.
The director pointed out that the stage of improving the
national payment infrastructure in Azerbaijan has been successfully
completed, and international integration opportunities are
currently being considered as a strategic direction. Gurbanova
briefed on the latest measures taken to expand the instant payment
system in the country, including improving the legislative
framework and implementing a single QR standard.
The forum organized by the Central Bank played an important
international role as a platform for the exchange of experiences
between central banks, the real-time execution of international
payments, and the discussion of issues related to expanding
financial inclusion.
