ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 1. Turkmenistan
and the United Nations held the fifth meeting of the Strategic
Advisory Council,
Trend reports via the Turkmen MFA.


The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Turkmenistan with the participation of deputy prime ministers,
heads of ministries and agencies, and representatives of UN
agencies.


Participants discussed coordination of joint efforts in
preparing Turkmenistan’s third Voluntary National Review (VNR) on
the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
including progress assessment, data collection, and stakeholder
engagement.


Particular attention was paid to strengthening interagency
coordination and using international best practices to improve the
quality of reporting.







Environmental issues were also discussed, with a focus on
reducing methane emissions as a key factor in addressing climate
change.


Following the meeting, several annual work plans for 2026 were
signed between Turkmen ministries and UN agencies, including UNFPA
and UNICEF, covering cooperation in healthcare, education, and
economic development.
