The Polish Ministry of Energy has issued its first regulation setting maximum retail fuel prices, RMF24 reports.

Under the new rules, effective on March 31:

  • A-95 gasoline cannot exceed 6.16 zł ($1.65) per litre

  • A-98 gasoline cannot exceed 6.76 zł ($1.81) per litre

  • Diesel fuel cannot exceed 7.60 zł ($2.04) per litre

Retailers must comply with the limits, with violations subject to fines of up to 1 million zł (about $270,000).

The measures coincide with a decree from the Ministry of Finance and Economy reducing excise taxes on gasoline, diesel, and biofuels, aimed at stabilising prices for consumers.
