Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Israel of committing “ecocide” after reported strikes on fuel storage facilities in Tehran, warning of long-term environmental and health consequences for residents.
In a post on the social media platform X, Araghchi said the attacks violated international law and could have lasting effects on the capital’s environment.
“Israel's bombings of fuel depots in Tehran violate international law and constitute ecocide,” Araghchi wrote.
“Residents face long-term damage to their health and well-being. Contamination of soil and groundwater could have generational impacts,” the post said.
